Iris Retractors ^ Back On Top

Flexible Iris Retractors (Mechanical Intra Operative Pupil dilators) are a vital instrument to reduce surgical time and frustration in small pupil during phacoemulsification, retina and vitreous surgery. These flexible nylon hooks retract the iris with minimal damage to the tissue thereby providing a fast and simple method for temporary pupil enlargement

Design and Construction - Each iris hook is made of monofilament nylon , one end of which is bent in 'U' shape for hooking the iris. The tip is rounded off to prevent any damage to the anterior capsule while inserting or withdrawing the retractors. Specially designed silicon rubber locking system provides superior grip. These retractors can be used through 1.0 mm self sealing incision. Can be safely used in Phakic, Aphakic and Pseudophakic eyes. Available as a sterile set of five retractors in a box.

Capsule Care ^ Back On Top

A capsular tension ring may not hold the bag in place during phaco if the zonules are especially weak. Surgeons sometimes use iris retractors on the rim of the capsulorhexis in order to manage this problem, but iris retractors aren't designed for this purpose. Since the iris retractor comes in at an angle, the hook is not in the plane of the rim to be supported.

In contrast, CapsuleCare is designed such that the hook is angled to be in the plane of the anterior capsule. As a result, it's easy to get a firm and reliable grip on the rim. Further the tip of the hook is rounded to prevent any accidental damage to the peripheral capsule while placing the hooks in the bag. The round tip also provides with a larger support area per hook thereby reducing the number of hooks required in each surgery. Once the hooks are placed in position to support the capsule, an endocapsular ring can be inserted.

Advantages

  • maintains the position of the capsule during phaco
  • supports the fornix as well as the capsulorhexis rim, so that the peripheral capsule isn't attracted towards the phaco tip
  • avoids the problem of the capsular tension ring trapping cortex
  • prevents zonular stress during nuclear rotation
  • makes it possible to perform posterior chamber phaco even with dislocated lenses having minimum zonular support.
Capsular Tension Rings ^ Back On Top

Description

  • Clear PMMA Rings
  • High flexibility due to special design
  • HAPTIC - 0.20 mm
  • Size 12-10 mm and 13-11 mm
Advantages
  • Circular expansion and stabilization of the periphery of the capsular bag
  • Reduced risk of capsular fibrosis
  • Reduced risk of capsular shrinking
  • Safe IOL centration in eyes with zonular dehiscence
  • Stabilized conditions during (phacoemulsification) surgery
Tension Ring Injector ^ Back On Top

ECR is an extremely useful device for the cases of zonular dehiscence. However the technique of insertion is difficult even in the expert hands since the anatomy of the ocular structures is disturbed in cases which require the ECR. Moreover the manipulation is to be performed through either side port incision (1.4mm) or main phaco incision (3.2mm). The endocapsular ring can be easily inserted in the capsular bag through a 1.4 mm incision with the help of an injector system, which is extremely easy to use. The ECR is inserted into the front polythene tube with the help of mcpherson foreceps. The cannula loaded with the ECR is then inserted in the capsular bag and the ECR is gently pushed out into the bag.

Phaco Practice Eyes ^ Back On Top

An increasing number of ophthalmologists are trying to convert to Phaco-emulsification and in the process many human eyes suffer the damage, some of them irreparable. The biggest hurdle to learning phaco is lack of artificial eyes/Cataract & Phacos for practice. In an attempt to eliminate this problem we have developed a simulator eye for practicing the basic steps of phaco surgery. i.e. capsullarhexis, sculpting & four quadrant grooving, bimanual cracking into four quadrants, chopping & emulsification of the nucleus.

After completion of phacoemulsification and cleaning of the lens matter, the eye can be used for practicing foldable or rigid IOL insertion. The Iol can be retrieved after completing the procedure by cutting open the cornea by corneal scissors.

This practice eye is aimed at helping the phaco trainees getting good hand-foot coordination on the phaco machines with minimum stress levels.

Lens Glide ^ Back On Top

Phaco glide portion :10mm long x 2.6mm wide, tapered to 1.75mm

IOL glide portion : 20mm long x 5mm wide, 2.5mm radius

Phaco glide portion protects iris from prolapse or trauma during phacoemulsification and acts as a guide for insertion of instruments. IOL glide portion assists in the implantation of posterior chamber IOLs and in extracting the nucleus during the Bluementhal technique.

  • Useful in stablising the nucleus in cases of PC rupture.
  • Disposable
  • Box of ten individually packed glides.
  • E.T.O gas sterilized

Anterior Chamber maintainer (A.C. Maintainer) ^ Back On Top

Anterior chamber maintainer (A.C maintainer) is a very useful device in small incision Cataract & Phaco surgery like phacoemulsification and non-phaco Bluementhal technique, since chamber collapse accounts for a large number of complications during these surgical procedures. The A.C maintainer is connected to a separate saline bottle and the tip is inserted into the anterior chamber through the side port incision. In case there is any surge or the chamber becomes shallow, the saline from the bottle automatically fills the anterior chamber avoiding Posterior capsule rupture or other surge related complications.

I/A & Epinucleus Aspirator Probe ^ Back On Top

This probe is designed to overcome problems associated with the stubborn/sticky epinucleus. Such an epinucleus is difficult to aspirate through with an I/A probe and poses danger of PC rent when aspirated through the phaco probe. A 1.0mm port size of this probe with a blunt tip helps in safe aspiration of even the toughest of epinucleus very easily. A very handy instrument to avoid tricky situation in phacoemulsification.

  • Preset vacuum and flow rate settings same as for I/A procedure
  • Compatible with all phaco machine tubing
  • Autoclavable
